I use base coat for both swatching (on the rare occasion I actually swatch... :P) and regular manicures. I think that it helps to keep my nails from staining so much, helps fill in the imperfections (of which there are many) in my nails and makes the polish look nicer.

Lately I've been putting a base coat for swatching, as I have predominant ridges at the moment. It deoends on the polish though...
Only for full manis. I would go through it so quick if I used it for swatching lol
I always always always use a base coat...I didn't for a long time, but then I stained my nails swatching Orly Retro Red. So now I do. :)

Claudie, Zara, and Ice Queen - I don't use one either, excpet when it is red or black polishes I am swatching
Dainty Darling Digits - that is what I worry about, I would be using up base coats so fast
